I found this 1869 Uruguay 10c at a show. It's sure an interesting coin! It's not just a nice doubled die, but the oldest trail dies coin known--"1869(URY)-4(cen)DEO-001T" Since trail dies are mostly known on US coins, I have posted here. A few pictures...first the date area. Obviously, the date was on the hub--it was a single year issue. The doubled die (black arrows) is pretty obvious in this picture; the white arrows shows the position of the trail dies. I have yet to find a second example of this coin. For a Heaton mintage of 6.25M, there could be a lot of obverse dies--easily 25 or more.
I saw the design of this coin and thought, "Hey, I think I have one - I should check it for the DD!" And it's just a Peru 1918/7 C 2 Centavos. Rats. lol
That's a cool ddo Kurt, I like that straight line under the 8. *thumbs up* Lol, it's just an overdate.
You're right! I did not fix that error in time...oops! This is the 4 Centesimos coin. Uruguay made a 10 Centavos coin this year, but not a 10 Centesimos coin--and I'm unsure how these denominations relate to each other.
