Earlier this week I got my first 2007 coins - the Slovenian euro set. And finally the description of this forum ("Including, but not limited to, the new Euro coins.") makes sense again as these are actually new. Not only because they are the first euro pieces from that country, but also because they have the new common sides, with the updated map of Europe. This is the 50 cent coin and the €2 piece: Hi-res pictures are here ... well, I am still trying to figure out how to take photos of coins that are still in such plastic thingies. http://cfmedia.gmxhome.de/pix/50cent.jpg http://cfmedia.gmxhome.de/pix/2euro.jpg The maps are different in that they show (most of) geographical Europe, much like the euro notes, instead of the EU member states only. Also, the Nordic Gold pieces (10, 20, 50 ct) shows what looks like mountain ranges, and on the bimetallic €1 and €2 coins the continent has a bunch of dots ... Christian

If you want really large images, have a look at this page: http://www.evro.si/en/slo-and-euro/slovene-euro-coins/ This is an overview with relatively small pictures - but if you click on the "File for print" links, you'll get high resolution images of the coins. Very nice pieces in my opinion, except maybe for the €1 coin which I think has too much text in too many different fonts. But the others I like. Some interesting details by the way: At the bottom of each coin there is a tiny "Fi" which is short for Finland. The coins were made in Vantaa/FI. And above Mount Triglav (on the 50 ct coin) you see some stars connected by dotted lines. These have nothing to do with the twelve stars of Europe (which can be found on the circulation coins of all euro countries) but represent the zodiac sign "Cancer". Slovenia as an independent country was born, so to say, under that sign. Christian
