Places like Ebay figure it in automatically already for states that require it. The seller won't have to do anything in most cases. Ebay, Amazon and many others do the math for you. Guy
It passed the Senate 3 or 4 days ago. It gives power to the States; that have adopted the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement, to force retailers with $1,000,000 in sales or more to collect and remitt sales tax and file regular periodic sales and use tax returns without the requirement of establishing nexus. Is the $1,000,000 threshold total sales or the threshold per state? Does it also apply to collection of county, city and local sales tax or just state sales tax? What about retailers located in states that have not adopted the SSUTA? Will they still be required to collect the sales tax from customers located in states that have adopted the agreement? As with most things that happen in DC - this has kinda slipped past me.
