the liberty's cap

    a fun fact on liberty's cap

    back when there were slaves when a slave was freed they were given a red cap called a freedmans cap which symbolises freedom obviously

    Ricky is correct, the caps were given to freed slaves here in the early US so that others would know that they were not runaway slaves.

    Your comments are accurate as well Ardatirion.

    Hmm, I hadn't heard of that before. Where'd you find that out?

    Still, I'm pretty sure that the cap seen on US coinage is descended from the Roman one.

    (Ah! I sound snippy! I don't mean to be, I'm only curious!)

    Not at all, you are correct it is descended from that. As was the cap given to the freed slaves.
