If any of you had read one of my posts earlier this week I had stated that I have a big surprise coming for everybody. Now is the time for the big unveil but before I do that I want all of you to know that I had came up with this idea and talked it over with Peter Davis. He gave me the ok so I got to work.

Now Let me formally introduce all of you to CoinTalk University! This will allow anyone to sign up and take online courses that will teach numismatics. The best part is it is completely FREE!

The very first course offered will be US Coins 101. Here I will be teaching students about the basics of us coin types from colonial - modern. To enroll in CoinTalk University and be signed up for the course please click (don't worry it is 100% safe Peter Davis signed up just fine)

Now the online course will use edmodo which is used by many high schools and universities. It will display a feed that looks similar to the Facebook layout and on this feed you will see any alerts, assignments, tests, quizzes etc... that need to be read or completed. The first assignment has already been posted just read this article and answer a few questions then submit the questions paper where it says turn in then I will grade it and you get a notification on what your grade is.

Signups for the course are open now and will remain open until either 35 students sign up or by the deadline of May 10th 2014 Class officially begins on May 12th 2014

. Now I know a lot of you might begin to question by numismatics skills right off the bat but I want to make clear that I am not doing this on my own. Some of you have received messages already addressing this matter. If you would like to help out please PM me and I can get you signed up as a teacher.

This program will be a lot more than just one class. But starting off I only want to offer 1 class so that I do not overwhelm myself in the beginning. There will be a lot more classes in the future that will focus on world coins ancient coins errors rarities etc...

So go check out the course and signup to give it a try.I have posted the course syllabus as well so be sure to give that a read. it should answer most of your questions about the course itself.

Thank you for taking the time to give this a look. I look forward to instructing you.

Just a little beginning question: I have abandoned Office for Google Docs long ago. Any chance to have that version of a document so I don't have to purchase Word to open the documents?

how do we turn in the work? Do we just type in the word document and submit it back to you?

Yes you type in the word document. Once you have finished answering all the questions save the document and submit it on edmodo by clicking turn in then upload the file you just saved. I will then open the file and read it then assign you a grade.

that's interesting I am not so sure how to help you there. Edmodo should have some sort of help link somewhere.
