whats everyones take on the 95% copper transition over to zinc in 1982-1983? i read there was few 1983 95% copper pennies minted. how about any 1982 zinc pennies? any rumors on any of them being minted?

has anyone here ever took the time to throw some of these pennies on a scale?

Well, there's obviously 1982 zinc cents that were minted. With the small and large dates, there's 7 varieties for 1982.
I doubt there's any copper 1983 since they changed over partway through 1982.

i read something just recently on a copper 1983 appearently sold for around $15,000? anyone else heard of that?

is there an estimate of how many 1982 zinc pennies minted? i thought the majority of the 82's were copper.

    Yes.

    Roughly 11.4 metric craploads.

Put it this way...There's so many of them, even the various date-size VARIETIES of them are common. :too-funny:
