It's interesting that the design (outside of the owl) has changed a bit. You can see the differences compared to the first coin:

Wow, nice specimens! Love the detailed artwork & the perspective, especially on the owl (note the talons on the edge artwork).

That is what drew me in. The design and details are exquisite.
The talons are a very cool touch.

On the first coin, I liked the way the name stands out ("Kokbori" above the wolf). On the second coin, the name blends in and isn't as easy to see ("UKI" above the owl).

Something that I think is nicer on the second coin, is the reverse. The emblem of Kazakhstan is the central feature. Meanwhile on the first coin, the denomination, year, and silver content appears to be the focal point.

Wow! Very nice! That is an innovative design, I wish the US Mint would come up with more frequent designs rather than the once or more releases of the same thing every year (what a concept) I collect from many countries and this is the first one that I have seen from Kazakhstan. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely indeed, but is it not NCLT? The collector (snob) mooks will get their knickers all up in a bunch.

    I do like them.......:)

I agree with you about the US Mint. Early on many of my items came from there (proof sets, Silver Eagles, etc), but I eventually moved on to something that was more interesting to me. That included Classic US coins and a variety of foreign coins. Kazakhstan has quite a few spectacularly designed coins, so I’ve been adding more of those lately.

Yes it’s NCLT. They do issue these in several denominations and I believe the smallest one is the closest to a circulating coin (no gilding and it’s a regular UNC finish). However, those still come in collector cards and are priced several dollars above face value.

I know that some don’t like this type of stuff, but that doesn’t bother me. My collection has a bit of everything from classic to modern (although no ancients...yet?).

NCLT like ASEs. If only US mint engravers had the same amount of imagination and skill.

Wow! Fascinating design. If you like the coin, it does not matter whether it is NCLT or not.

Yes, NCLT - and the regular (circulation) coins from Kazakhstan are ... hmm, not dull but a "one style" set. See this image (Wikimedia). The current coins, by the way (as from 2019), have Latin characters instead of the Cyrillic ones used before. The image below is from the central bank's site; not great but you get an idea.

Yep, NCLT, but there's classy NCLT and then there's just ridiculous NCLT.

That 500-tenge owl in the OP is awesome. I want one.
