That was interesting. My father was in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany 1953-1957. I was about 8-10 then. We had a maid when we were in Landstuhl and she use to show us a lot of interesting things that their family collected, many of them were coins. I was too young to understand much of what she told us.
We came back to Europe in 1964-1967. I graduated from high school in 1965 and got a job on base so I could hitchhike through Europe. I enjoyed meeting the people there. They treated me well. I was escorted to many special places and saw many castles that were there. Many of the people that took me places cautioned me to avoid picking up anything, even if they were valuable. Germany was still recovering from WWII and there were explosives everywhere. I was caution not to dig because I could lose fingers, hands or eyes. They blamed the Russians for many deaths and dismembering after WWII because they didn't cleanup to well.
Even tho I was 18-19, I still didn't realize what was in Europe underground.
Watching the video and watching these people dig concerns me because of all the explosives that are still out there.

    Love Metal Detecting.

(So glad to see this thread is about metal detecting MD and not mechanical doubling MD!)
