Investing Competition rules:

ENTRY:

1) Everyone will have $10,000 virtual (US) dollars to spend.

2) All entries must be sent to: ctinvestors2009@yahoo.com between Friday, December 3, 2009 and Saturday, December 4, 2009. All e-mails must be received by me before the deadline on Saturday. No entry will be accepted after 12:01 AM CST on December 5,2009

3) For an official entry to be accepted you must:

a) include a complete list of the coins you intend to buy with your virtual cash. Coins in this list can be any coin listed in the PCGS price guide at http://www.pcgs.com/prices/. You are allowed to buy gold and silver eagles, but you must buy them at the price guide prices, not the bullion price. At the end of the contest we can compare to the current price of gold, silver and platinum. This competition is about investing in coins, not metals, but we can see how the coin boys do against the pure "metal heads".

ALSO

b) each entry must also include prices as listed currently on: http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ If you don't include the prices, I can't accept the entry because it would be too hard to research them all myself.

AND

c) post your entry in the thread before 12:01AM CST on Monday December 8, 2009.

4) No discussion posts will be allowed in the thread. I will post a discussion thread for the contest.

5) No editing of anyone's list will be allowed within the contest thread. The post must exactly match the one sent to the e-mail address.

6) Entries not sent to the contest e-mail address prior to the contest will not be accepted and will be removed from the thread.

7) Contest ends December 1, 2010 at 12:01 AM CST


WINNING:

Winners will be determined by the following method:

On December 1, 2010 any eligible entry may be presented for judgement. The entry that is judged to have the highest accumulated value will be declared the winner. (That's right, folks, You don't have to have the highest accumulation, you only have to be the highest one who submits their entry for judgement.)

All decisions regarding winners will be final.

In case of ANY dispute, I will be the sole judge and arbitor and I reserve the right to discuss the issue with Speedy or another moderator before making my final decision.


I will guarantee at least one prize to the winner of the contest, maybe we'll be able to gather up a few more things, but I don't want to commit to something that I can't deliver. I will say though that the lessons that will present themselves will be prizes of their own!

My picks will be sent to two independent people as e-mails from the contest e-mail so that they can be verified just like everyone else's.

The contest is designed to show what investing in coins turns into over a period of time, in this case, a year. The premise is designed to be simple, yet flexible enough to allow people to attack the situation from many different ways. This way it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out whether or not someone won, and the results are much more easily verified. IOW, I want to keep this somewhat straightforward and simple.

Now, if you'd like to start your own thread showing how you use a different strategy than is allowed in this contest and run it parallel to the discussion thread, then be my guest, you're quite welcome to do so.

 

In the opening page of the "Post Your List" thread I will post the current spot prices of Gold, Silver and Platinum. At the end of the contest we can also post the price and the difference so that we can compare them to the best result through coins only.

Might have had a few early entries because the original post incorrectly says "Friday Dec. 3"
