The 1943 P Jefferson is a very interesting year and mint mark . I believe that there's like over 70 RPM's for this date and mint mark alone! Not to mention how many varieties as DDO's and DDR's ,lets see an over date , a double eye, just to list a few. Now for the YN's you need to remember this was in the early war years of WW ll . Nothing went to waste , metals were extremely important to the war effort. I'm posting two 1943 P Jefferson's both are from an unc. roll. Both coins composed of copper 56% silver 35 % & manganese 9%. Both coins have never been cleaned by any means . Examine each from the images posted and tell me besides the RPM's that do exist what's going on with these two coins. I assure you none of what you see is PMD. These were taken from a roll my father put away many years ago during WWll.

Any guesses what these are or their causes?
I'm sure older members will nail this right off the bat....So let's give the newbies a shot first and see if they can figure it out. Have fun.

Well if that's all the responses I get so be it....I can't make others want to learn ,I can't do your homework for you.....or others.
Yes there's plenty of knowledge here with in the threads posted here on CT.
Also plenty of members whom post the knowledge they have learned themselves .
But best lessons learned aren't learned by others giving you the answers , it's by seeking them out.
This is a hobby that isn't just simply placing disc in an album .
This is a hobby that covers a lot of knowledge . History, politics , science, and math. That said if one isn't open to explore , research and understand why a nickel is a nickel ,why its composition was changed during the war years, why so many varieties and errors occurred during that time.
Then I guess you'll never know......As I never had a teacher or professor who gave me an exam and the answers too.
