Hello everyone, The last few years I have started collecting world coins. Its grown quite a bit to say the least. Until now I have always been able to find dates etc. However, this coin has me stumped. Everything I have read says the actual date is on the bottom of the reverse. I cannot find it. What am i missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need another picture, please let me know. Regards,
Well, if everything you've read says the date is on the bottom of the reverse, then everything you've read is wrong. The date is outlined in red below: The date is 2525 (of the Buddhist Era), which equates to 1982 CE. Hope this helps. "In the year 2525 If man is still alive If woman can survive They may find..."
Thank you. I am aware of the date 2525 being 1982, however I have read ( UCoin and Numista) that on the bottom of the coin in the correct date whether it is 1982, 83, 84, 85 or 86. 5 baht 1982, Thailand - Coin value - uCoin.net On Numista, I seen this: 2525 (1982) พ.ศ.๒๕๒๕ ๒๕ 2525 (1982) พ.ศ.๒๕๒๕ ๒๖ 2525 (1982) พ.ศ.๒๕๒๕ ๒๗ 2525 (1982) พ.ศ.๒๕๒๕ ๒๘ 2525 (1982) พ.ศ.๒๕๒๕ ๒๙ If you see at the end of each it shows 25, 26, 27, 28 & 29. I am wondering if on the 2525 5 Baht there are coins that have multiple dates, much like older spanish coins do? I am wondering if anyone knows anything about that? Thanks
Ah, okay. I misunderstood your question. I have no idea where that mysterious two-digit true date is supposed to be on the coin, I don't see anything that looks like it could be that date. (Unless it's that small thing just above the bottom line of text? But I can't see any numbers in that.) Your comparison to Spanish coins makes sense- I am aware of how the actual date is hidden in tiny details of the design, so maybe Thai coins could be similar? Sorry I don't know the specific info you were looking for.
It's exactly this. They did it for a few years in the 80s. On the 5 baht, the year of issue is in the round ornament under the word บาท.
