So as another present to myself, (besides the Ostrogoth piece), I received this just before Christmas. Its is right at half an ounce AGW, (one baht in thai weight), and struck to both celebrate Year of the Child from the UN, and the 200th anniversary of rule by the current Thai dynasty. Rama IX is pictured on the front, with his ancestor Rama I taking the throne in 1781. Btw, the marks you see are from the plastic holder. In hand, I cannot see a mark on it. Nice quality.
great cameo contrast. good looking coin. I like and have the silver elephant 1/4, 1/2, and 1 Baht coins.
They are participating in a Thai festival called Loy Krathong. Its where you make offerings into the river of flowers and candles. I did it in Chiang Mai, the river is just gorgeous carrying all of the offerings downstream in the moonlight, with their candles glowing.
