I have never used Teletrade for buying coins, and I would like to hear some comments from folks who have. Do you find it to be a buyer friendly medium for purchasing coins?

A guy from my coin club swears by it, but it seems a little intimidating to me.

I've gone to their website, and looked over a few things - but I have never participated in one of their auctions.

I have bought there, but I prefer Heritage. That Da Jevu software that teletrade uses is quirky. Also I agree that there is an intimidating feel to their whole process whereas Heritage just feels more comfortable in their processes. Both can be pricey - the secret is to check frequently and do the "buy nows" at Heritage, also try to get the rarely offered coins- the kind that you won't find on an ebay search.

Heritage seems to have more coins for people to look at....I have only used Heritage but Teletrade seems alright...I haven't heard much about them that is bad.

I used Teletrade many times in the past. Except for the one time they lost the coin I won, I was more than happy with the service. Since ebay came about I have pretty much forgotten Teletrade.

    Hmmmm

Although I consider myself an advanced collector, I have bought from Heritage, but never Teletrade. My dealings with Heritage were direct Ebay auction, not the live bid, with buyers premium. If you have a Big Hard Drive, I would suggest keeping a library of the extremly good pics of the coins and paper money that Heritage offers.

Have used Teletrade many many times.. very pleased with the service except when winning bids are under 10 dollars the buyers fees are sometimes 75 to 100% of the won auction price. On all other buys never a problem..good to work with and fast dependable delivery of your items.

TeleTrade is a very respectable company. I bought many coins from them over the years and never had a single problem.

Don't forget 2 add the buyers premium, on all sales.

    Hi everyone,
I just found this forum this past week. My first post. Suppose it should have been in the introduction section, so I won't go into intro details here.....
I've used both Teletrade and Heritage (Heritage only once). Heritage was slow, in my opinion, getting an invoice to me so I could pay. No real complaints, though. I've used Teletrade for over 10 years, but haven't really bought that much.
The current question I'm grappling with is which to use to sell a coin. I picked up an unattributed variety of buffalo nickel, sent it to ANACs, just got it back. It's value is many, many, many times what I paid for it. Too valuable to see via ebay. I'll probably go with Heritage.

I used Teletrade one time and found they were very slow delivering and BUYERS PREMIUMS are a killer! I refuse to pay a buyers premium ever again as the seller is the one who is making the money, let him pay for Teletrade's service!

Howdy LuckyDad...if you don't mind telling...what was the variety on the Buff?

Terry...how much is Teletrades Bidders Premiums...on Heritage they have that too but when I'm bidding I just take that into the price...and if I'm willing to go to $100 and BP is $10 then I only go to $90....now I"ll be the first to say that sometimes I'm willing to go over list price or even what I first thought to get a coin that I need...

Speaking of Heritage, has anyone ever visited their location or have you only dealt with them online? They're only about a half hour away from me and I was considering going there some afternoon.
    Any thoughts?

    The buffalo is a FS-018.
Not a bad find. Got it off ebay from a dealer. Good, big pictures on the auction. Couldn't tell for sure, but suspected, so I took a chance. Gotta take chances from time to time. More fun that way.

since Heritage came up here, I thought I would add this:

Has anyone ever viewed their coin images? That has got to be the SLICKEST thing I have ever seen in imaging software. The zoom resolution - stunning.

I need to find out what they use.... I want it.
