I can remember going to coin shows and getting the deals back in the day and it was ok with me. Ebay arrived and boy was I happy. All of a sudden we started to see TV coin shows, Internet sites such as Teletrade that I was a huge fan of at the beginning and finally Heritage that I still use. Now, Ebay is not a fun place with all the buyers advantages and fees. Teletrade was doomed after my man Ian left. I bought great coins at super prices and sold many nice coins also with the trust and ease of that team at Teletrade. Are there any other good internet auction sites online someone would like to share. I guess it's off to the local coin shows once again to haggle with the fat smelly dealers and get low ball offers with excuses. Or the nice ones that will make a deal and still have room to make a buck or two for him/her. Don't forget about the pretty ladies also as in the Penny Lady. Tell me what you think about what has happen to many coin consignment sites on the net that have left because of GREED.
I recommend Great Collections !! They have great service and great coins for sale prices are very fair and you can always find a good deal on their !! they on care a fee of 1 dollar for ever ten dollars you spend so it is not to bad !! Try it out i would recommend them anytime and their customer service is great. They also will sell your coins for you and they are good to sellers and buyers alike !
TeleTrade was an internet fad? Just pass them by and leave them to the fat smelly know-it-all collectors expecting retail offers with their own excuses.
Nice to see the war between collector/dealer is still lively. And I'll have you know 'Books', I take a shower every Saturday night........whether I need it or not.
No, no... birds of a feather, Green, birds of a feather... Oh, how I wish I would have thought of it, but you opened yourself up to this one, buddy...
Most of the stuff I'm looking at on eBay are military trade tokens. My understanding talking to people smarter then me say they're overpriced, but I have a hard time finding them elsewhere. I like Great Collections. Never sold there but all my buying experiences have been good.
If I remember right your main man Ian left Teletrade to found Great Collections. I as well am a fan of Ian's and would recommend GC.
Was meant only as a friendly kid in regards to the "internet" thing since it had been around since the 80's. Regional kitsch... good stuff! His commercials brought back fine memories of a time when not everywhere was as cookie cutter as is today.
I remember making bids by TELEPHONE with Teletrade (hence the term "Tele"). It was pretty good then but it was sight-unseen which is something I won't do too often these days...I have a lot of trouble "deciphering" photos off the net. GC is a great alternative... jom
I remember the excitement of the Teletrade telephone auctions back then. Really hard using the old rotary dials, but it was my first auction experience and high shipping costs. I looked forward to receiving their mailed printed catalog almost every week.
