Never heard of Tarrant city, TX. There is a Tarrant county in Texas which Fort Worth is in. I tried both Tarrant county, Texas and Fort Worth, Texas silver hoard in google and couldn't find anything. Sorry.
You are assuming "TARRANT CTY TX" means Tarrant City. It very well (and most likely does) mean Tarrant County.
Makes more sense!!! Now that I think of it, why would they leave out just the "I" in city? :headbang::headbang:
Yeah. That is Tarrant County. I will ask a local coin shop what they know about this Tarrant County buried silver. Has to be a story behind it I would think. Will let you know if I find anything out. Nice looking coin by the way!

I spoke to 2 really good coin shops here in Tarrant County. I'm afraid none of them heard of the Tarrant County, Texas buried silver that NGC put on that holder. They did think that it was pretty cool though as I do. A call to NGC might shed some light. Sorry I couln't find anything out.
It sounds like one of those old Coin Vault "hoards". It seemed like every time they found a couple of bags of Morgans or Peace dollars, they called it a hoard and got NGC to make "proprietary" labels so they can charge mo money for them. The red river hoard, the Oak Hill Mine Hoard, the Winslow AZ Hoard, the Johnson, NV hoard ..yawn.
I have just acquired a hoard, a huge one, of Liberty Nickels. Should We call this the "Garbage Can Hoard"?

This is all I could find regarding Tarrant coin caches...its from a website having to do with hidden treasure that was either found or is still thought to be out there in different Texas counties. Lot of cool old stories about hidden treasures all around Texas, makes me want to try metal detecting again though last time I tried metal detecting I never found anything but chucks of old metal and bottle caps: In the mid-1960’s, a cache of treasure was found in Fort Worth. It happened to be a butter churn full of gold coins. It had been buried many years ago behind one of the old churches. This discovery brought to mind the incident that happen almost 30 years before when an old wash tub of coins was dug up just over 100 yards from the site of the butter churn. It is apparent that at some time in the past there was a person who felt their money was in danger and needed to be protected.
