I don't know guys what do you think? Your guess is as good as any!

    Taprobane
    AE Nummis 13.8 x 1.00 grams
    Obverse: Diademed Bust right.
Reverse: Undescribed design. Campgate? Votive Wreath?
    ref: Uncatalogued

I got quite a few of these of a small hoard that was discovered. This one has make believe legend.

I think the reverse is supposed to be a wreath. I like bust with non sense legend and the emperor is wearing a hat rather than a diadem. These just get more and more interesting!

@Ancientnoob They all look like imitations of late Roman AE and should be assignable to specific prototypes. I think you're on the right track. "Campgate" is as good a guess as any for the prototype of the top coin. I used to collect Roman imitations but was never fortunate enough to own any from India or Sri Lanka.

Perhaps they were based off of Theodosian AE4's?
    Looks sweet though!

    Agreed.

Coins like this were introduced to the island some time in the late 4th eand early 5th century.

This was recovered from a gem mine.

Clearly an official Arcadius. This does not represent all the type introduced to the island. The Roman nummis was referred to as the "3rd Brass"
