Tanning? Missing clad? Rust? Teach me, please.

    This quarter looks almost the same color as a cent. The weight is 5.4 grams. Have not been able to find anything that would let me know what is wrong with it.

    Yes to Environmental Damage
    I metal detect and have found hundreds of Clad Coins such as yours.. The elements, soil, dirt and sand can change the color

    A Missing clad layer mint error usually occurs just on one side only

    Here are 2 examples from my collection. The Reverse side of both coins look normal.
