Yesterday I was in one of the antique haunts I go to fairly regularly. It’s a second hand shop so prices are low enough that I can buy and resell at a decent profit.
Once a month they have a silent auction. I have my bidder number as do others and the auction items are up as soon as they can get them up. They basically are there for a full month. So I was in the area and stopped.
I found 4 other items and bought them. I went through the auction area and placed a few bids. The auction closes next week so I’ll be in early on that day to check on my bids. I may place a higher bid or not. Depends on the items and price.
This was an item I nearly choked to death on. I told one of the employees that works there even though he can’t do anything about it, at least not until the auction is over.
They had 6 1945 and 1 1942 Wheat Cents. No bids on any of them. Here’s why:

The starting bid for a 1945 Wheat Cent in VG or F is $100.00. If you want to but it now, you can do do for $150.00. I hope you were sitting down when you read that. I couldn’t even laugh as I was in shock from the sticker price.
They also have a $20.00 bill got the 1920’s and it has two bids. I think the last bid is $130.00 but I don’t collect obsolete paper money.
Hope you enjoyed seeing this and are shocked as I was.

Must be one of those people who think all coins minted in Philly are errors since they don't have a mint mark :wacky:

Not my writing. I told the guy that works there it’s worth two cents for each one they have.

Yeah, same goes on on ebay, it's obvious some people don't even think about researching an item at all they just allow their guess to name a price! Such a waste! :D

I like to look at ebay when I need a laugh. Luckily, I haven't got stung yet. I recently bought a 1941 NGC MS64 from a seller has great coins and the prices are reasonable. I'm in the mood for a PRE 1833 One Ounce Gold Coin MS62 or better. Almost all of them are out of my price range. I watched Rick last night. He played the same 30-minute ad set of Gold Coins 4 times. I didn't see the last part of the ad but when It started playing the same ad, it took about 10 minutes that I realized I was watching the same ad.
Mike Meazak (SP?) playing the same ad for 3 nights in a row, I finally turned the TV off and started reading a Louis L'amour book.
