Ive never done a folder of coins before, besides the one I did for the state quarters (which still isn't done) but the folders I picked up today I think will be fairly easy to complete. The Half Dollar folder is for the dates 1986-2003. The nickel folder is for dates 1968-2009. The only Nickel I think is going to be hard to find is the 2005 P and D Bison Nickels. Ive NEVER seen one in all my time of searching to prepare for a folder (a few months)

anyway, any suggestions for filling out a folder? Wish me luck!

Congrats on your folder choices & Good Luck.

Everytime I find a 2005 Buffalo Nickel in change, I save it, by putting it in my Coin Collection Can ;)

Since the Buffalo is my favorite coin, I got a Federal Reserve box of the 2005's from my bank when they first came out!

The bison nickels won't be a problem. They made nearly half a billion of each and even if you're in an area that they weren't released nickels do circulate and do travel so they'll get there eventually.

The big problems will be the '68, '68-D, and especially the '71. These are out there and well mixed in but the mintages were low and the attrition is high. Only about 45 million of each survive and a lot of those are in terrible condition. Finding nice attractive collectible versions of these is tough.

Good luck searching. And don't forget you can try to swap or trade on the board in the open section. Plus you could go to a dealer or one ebay and get one of the 4 coin sets to break out and use.

Well guys I bought a roll of nickels from my bank today and what do ya know, there was a 2005 Bison nickel in there. I forget which mint but I only need one more now lol. I also filled in about 32 slots out of 50 from nickels I already had and My biggest surprise was not only the Bison nickel, but a 1969 S to plop right in my folder!

Is there a P or D mintmark under the word Liberty & just above the 2005 date ?

yep there is a P mint mark. I had to check my folder because I didnt remember. My folder also tells me that there were 448 million minted from each mint. I thought they were going to be harder to find. I had searched atleast 50 rolls prior to today and never saw one lol. Today was my lucky day.
