Take a look at this wartime nickel please.

    Really new to coin collecting and forum posting for that matter...
    Any chance this is a 1943 P Wartime stamped over a 1942?
    Was reading that it happened for a short time and couldn't tell for sure by myself.

    Hi,

    Nope it isn't. Also, it is not a case of a 1943 being struck over a 1942. The 1943/1942 is a doubled die where a 1943 hub was impressed into a die that was hubbed with a 1942 dated hub first.

    As Bill said, it is not the overdate.
    There should be a somewhat straight line from the 2 across the bottom (interior) of the 3.

    I don't see 3 over 2, but there's a 3 over 3 in the last digit.
