This is a medal rather than a coin, but I really love the design and the history that goes with it.

1864 - 50th Anniversary of the Return of the Geneva Canton
After 300 years of French rule, the Canton of Geneva was reunited with the Swiss Confederation in 1814. It had been under French rule for so long primarily because it was surrounded by France almost entirely and only connected to Switzerland by a very narrow neck of land. To this day, French is the predominant language spoken in the Geneva Canton.

These medals were issued to commemorate that reunion. One is copper and one is what I believe to be brass. (For some reason, the brass medal won't load. I'll have to look into it.)
