    Hi
I am new to this group so I hope I am posting in the correct place. I have a bunch of coins that look like they were never used and they are swiss francs - I think they are called vreneli or something similiar to that.

Anyway - not being a coin collector it is hard to say but to my eye they look like they are in perfect condition. I know gold is going up and was curious as what they could be worth. I have the following years

    1905, 1927, 1935 (many of these) 1947 and 1949

Is there a place I could look up the value, is one year more valuable than another? So many questions so let me thank you in advance for any responses I may receive.

    Sincerely,
    Patsie

Howdy Patsie - Welcome to the Forum !!

Is this the coin you are talking about ? CLICK HERE

They come in 10 franc & 20 franc denominations. But based on your dates you have the 20 franc coins. The 1935 can sometimes be worth a bit more than the others. But as a general rule they typcially sell for a bit under bullion value. They contain .1867 oz of pure gold. So whatever the price of gold is on a given day, multiply it by .1867 and you'll have the value. Today that would be about $110 each minus about 10%.

Oooops - almost forgot. That would be assuming they are genuine - many counterfeits do exist.

Hi Patsie, and [IMG] to CoinTalk.

As Doug pointed out, you have bullion coins not intended to circulate as money. They have little, or no numismatic value.

Here are pictures of both sides of the very similar 10 franc design, from an English dealer's website where they are offered at close to bullion prices.

Thanks to both of you. I really appreciate your help. The pictures are of the coins that I have.

I inherited them from a distant relative so I am pretty sure they are authentic.

    Very nice group here...thanks again

    Patsie
