I don't collect gold, so I couldn't say. One thing is sure, though. SleazeBay could care less as long as they get paid.

Looks a little funny, but I don't collect these. What is the blob on the denticles on the top left on the obverse?

Yeah, that definitely looks wrong, as do all of the "plump" letters. Too much light die polish compared to what I'm used to seeing for this date too.

I am just getting into gold coins so I won't venture on its authenticity. But the seller doesn't seem to be a coin specialist. So, he might not know the difference. Just a thought.

I don't like it. Denticles look funny. And devices look too mushy. Not cast. Transfer dies or maybe one of those old Middle East counterfeits

No danger -- of me bidding on that coin. Gold, for sure, is something I would only buy from a trusted dealer.

Good news . . . The seller and I have exchanged numerous thoughts about the coin, and he is going to give it further consideration later today.

As a full assay or better gold Middle-Eastern copy, it's a really nice study piece to have. I would even go so far as to say it's worth more than a genuine example in comparable condition as such. There is so much to learn from a coin like this, and it's likely more difficult to find than a genuine example.

I collect gold. 100% Counterfeit. You guys are good.

1.Blob between star 5 - 6. Never saw this characteristic before on genuine or c/f.
2.Die polish above date not Mint Quality.
3.No real metal flow, plus fatty letters. Look esp. at surface on rev around Ten D. ACI.

Nice find. definitely fake. The blob in the dentils on the obv is the most obvious tell, but the letters are all bloated, like bagels.

And the seller did the honorable thing.

Toughcoins has messaged me about a suspected fake I had for sell before too. I collect and sell $2 1/2, and still got fooled by one. I pulled it, and the seller I got it back from thankfully accepted it back. He did relist it though.

A nice lesson on identifying fakes.
