In the Susan B. Anthony series there are two listings for the 1981-S proof one is the ( proof, first -s and the 2nd is a clear -S . Can anyone tell me what the Proof first S is referring to ?

    Thanks Bruce.

There are two types of SBA dollars in both 1979 and 1981. Type 2 is the more valuable one in both years, and is referred to as a "clear" S, but this is a misnomer, as you can have a clear type 1 mintmark.

You can read more about it at http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page29.html
