Hey! I'm new to coin searching I came across a Susan B. Anthony 1979 coin and I can't tell what the mint mark is...an E?... It's kind of hard to see, but here is my attempt to show it on a microscope...: It has a bit of gold color on the top (probably copper or something). But anyways, please help Thanks!
Nah, they don't mint coins in Edison, NJ. Probably a 'P', but it is difficult to tell by your 'shots'. Mint mark quality in the earlier SBA's was pretty poor. Welcome to the forum.........
I agree with @green18 . They were still hand punching the mint marks at that time. How about the date? Are you aware of the near and far dates on the '79's?
The S mintmarks on these are known to have degenerated into blobs. I am pretty sure you have a typical S-minted coin.
It is hard to flip your screen upside down on a computer. However, my computer died and I'm working on my tablet. I lock the screen and flipped it upside down. Upside down it's even more convincingly an S.
