For some reason I have been hording all of the Susan B Anthony $1 Coins I encounter. Looking at the info in the newest Red Book, I see that, besides rare versions, they're pretty much just worth face value. My question is; is it worth keeping these in hopes their value may increase at some point in my lifetime, or should I just roll them and deposit them at the bank? I think I already know the answer to my question, I guess I'd just like to hear it from someone else to reassure myself that I'm making the right decision. Also, if I do deposit them, are there any rare varieties I should keep my out for while rolling them?
Without knowing how many you have...I'd probably just keep them. If nothing else, they'll never be worth less than a dollar. A guy I know hoards 1776-1976 quarters (not lonegunlawyer). Think he just keeps them because he likes them.
I thought I was also a collector of SBA, Turns out I am a hoarder. But you know what? I like them and I only have them in uncirculated condition. SKA69 if you don't have a large investment in them and can afford to keep them do it. like Jwt708 sez "they will always be worth a buck"
I'm a sucker for the SBAs too. I don't keep the loose ones so much but I have a bunch of the uncirc sets, I've bought proof sets to get them and I have the 99' proof in OGP and graded. Most of the time my LCS puts the sets out for not much more than face.
They get a lot of bad press for being fugly, but who cares? If you like hoarding them, hoard them. It's less messy than hoarding cats, and you won't get any grief from animal control.
I hoarded them, too, for a long time. But listen, don't just cash them off at the bank, spend them. I've determined the freaky looks you get are the whole fun of these.
When I first heard Micheal Keaton's "nice frame" comment i thought of the beautiful Ike reverse on Susie. Of course i was a MCP back then. I've since rehabilitated myself and love Susie. And Michael Bolton Music too  http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...mYH4BQ&usg=AFQjCNF5gynJOZhNXEfyKLgcnfeEZdE7aA
BTW, it's not that I hate Susie, it's that this is what we could have had if not for political correctness. http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page04.html
I hoard them for the same reason I hoard Bicentennial quarters. I like them and well, why not? I have almost 7 rolls of bicentennial and 0 good reasons to keep hoarding them. I don't know, maybe I like the idea of people reading some day, "Local man's attempt to pay property taxes in bicentennial quarters and Susan B Anthony's ends in chaos."
I have had good luck selling them on craigslist for a little more than face. I have a guy that buys them and half dollars from me all the time.
