Recently I added several Roman Republic denarii to my collection, each differing in some significant way from all the others I have accumulated and I'm still amazed at how many there still are that are stylistically different that I have yet to own. The posted coins, of different grades and eye-appeal, each adds something unique on the obverse and/or the reverse, and even to the 'naked eye'. I thought it might be a bit fun and interesting if we each posted another RR denari that substantially differs from all previous posts on this thread, either obverse or reverse---or even both!!!--although sharing any 'type' of any already listed would be OK too I posted a 'wreathed' denarii, obverse of Mars, on another thread (which follows) and now I'd like to add this worn example of Victory on both sides, draped on the obverse and riding a quadriga on the reverse. And, I finally snagged a Janus type with a reverse of Victory crowning a trophy. Gnaeus Gellius 138 BC Carisius 46 BC Furius 119 BC
Nice varieties. I will re-post one of my favorites. Roma's helmet is significantly different and the biga is pulled by elephants!
