For the first time in months, i was able to go to the bank to buy and then search some $1's. I am only able to get $200 at a time, but at least its something lol I go through the bundle the first time, looking for stars. In the past, i usually find 2-3 stars per $200 $1's. And with not being able to do it for so long, i was hoping to find more ok, so i was being greedy lol After going through all $200, i didnt find a signle star note. It was surprising, i thought i would at least find 1 or 2. So i start looking through the bundles again, this time looking at the dates. On this pass, i was able to find some nice notes I know alot of the collectors here, would most likely spend what i pulled, but it is cool to find some older dates.. 1988A A10870459C Fine 1985 G08757263E very good 1985 K32334769C Very good and the best for last (at least i think so lol) 1977A B29952799I good hopefully, i will be able to get into the routine of visiting the banks... but that wont happen until at least the start of the next school year
I'd have kept those too Did you check all of the serials for interesting ones and keep your eye out for errors and web press notes too? I tend to do one note at a time checking everything front and back rather than check one thing on each bill then go through the stack again checking for something else.
I would have kept those notes. I typically keep any $1 I find from the 1980s or older. If you've been finding 2 or 3 stars per strap you have been doing quite well. I work at a bank and I look through all my $1s I go though (probably over 10 straps per week) and I usually find 1 star for each 2 straps I go though.
I did keep them RichieB16 i wouldnt let them go lol I agree, i was doing quite well with my star note finds. i think i was doing about 1 to 1.5% finders. Its amazing, because most star note only average about .5% to .7% of the total printings. so to find between 1 and 1.5% is pretty good.
Daggar...cool finds...you lucky dog!! I do not see much older stuff here in MAssachusetts... Maybe my bank is putting them in the shredder basket??? RickieB
Yea, I went thru about $600 in ones this weekend....not a star note in the bunch. But I did find a few of the following: 1999 1995 1993 1988-A and one 1963...in reasonably good shape. Not too bad, just bummed that there were no star notes at all. :smile
when i go through 1's at work i average about 2-3 star notes per 100. i few weeks back i pulled out seven and even had 2 consecutive gem notes. i guess its all a numbers game
So far I've found 2 star notes at work (that were 1's, there was another that was a 5) - but I'd say I've gone through 300+ 1's so far. lol
