I’ve known my friend Michael Swoveland in North Carolina for 33 years, ever since we were impoverished coin collectors working blue collar jobs in the same warehouse, and discovered our shared affinity for World coins. Nowadays Michael is a successful coin dealer with his own shop in Asheville: WNC Coins. He’s always been generous with me and occasionally sends random gifts out of the blue. Could this package that arrived yesterday be such a thing? I think it is! But what IS it? I think I feel the contours of a plastic slab inside… Should I open it?
This was in the last surprise gift package that Michael sent. It is a gold fanam from India. They’re really tiny, and a fun and affordable way to collect old gold.
Since it is world coins i guess one of those Taler coins. Mainly because I have heard of those Taler coins. james
