I have (well technically my parents own it) they have a 1953 quarter. When you have it straight looking at the heads side you flip it over the tails side is turned to the left. Is it worth anything?
I think what you are describing is a rotated die error. Hold the coin in front of a mirror so both sides can be seen at the same time and take and post the picture here on CT.
