Anyone have any info on this company?

I saw their ad in COINage magazine indicating "true wholesale prices". I checked out their web site and prices are at or below greysheet bid prices. The only thing is, they offer no pictures of the coins.

I have heard of this company and have seen them at a few shows.

Now here is a question for you to consider:

If it sounds too good to be true?

Ask yourself why would this dealer do it?

Why 1 dealer out of thousands?

Why not post pics of their coins on their website?

The questions you ask are the exact reason why I asked mine. I just wanted to check references before I leaped.

    Thanks ND.

I have purchased quite a number of coins from SCC. I usually buy silver lots from them and have done quite well on resale. I have also been pleased with the individual coins that I have purchased from them and their grading is pretty accurate. I got one lot (out of about 9) from them that I was not pleased with and they accepted the return with no problems at all. I don't know why they don't post pictures. It's a shame because it makes them look like they're trying to hide something when I really don't think they are.

Would one of you mind sending me their URL so I could take a look?

    Thanks,

    Let me share this thought.

Now I am not saying that this particular company is good or bad. Just consider all the facts in this particular case.

If coins could be bought for less than wholesale, why isn't every dealer buying their coins from these types of companies? Why would these firms need to spend thousands of dollars advertising to the public?

There are NO coin faireys in this business.

Now Susan has done well in dealing with a "Wholesale" company. I am sure that someone has done well with a less than desirable grading company also.

All I am asking is that you consider the facts as you know them. Think about why a firm would make these offers. Then consider why they would need to offer to the public when dealers are spending billions per year.

ND is correct in what he's saying. The reason this company has worked well for me is because I have customers for the coins that he puts in the lots. Also, if I buy a single coin, I almost always have a buyer already. But I can say that the grading has been reasonable. You can contact S.C.C. on their website for a current list of what they have and prices. (Unfortunately, there are no pictures in the list either). I took a chance, knowing that I might get burned, and was fortunate. I am not saying that everyone would be as fortunate, I can only relate my own experience. :)

Susan, I do not lump you in with average collectors at this point. I would suspect that you will be able to spot good deals and bad deals. Most collectors cannot spot cleanings or whizzed or altered coins.

A few of you here on the boards can get away with buying in a different format than most because you know your material.
