The Washington Benevolent Society Medal, I received Yesterday, came with a coating of a shellac like material. The substance either mixed with the toning present or else as it toned the substance turned blue. Most of it has been removed with Acetone, but some is still stubbornly there. Should I complete the process removing most of the toning or leave some of it there with some toning left? Please do not say to give up on it because another will come along. Medals are very hard to replace due to difficulty finding them.
