I have been tossing around an idea in my head, but need some help.

I want to put together a "Classical Design" typeset from the early 1900s.

Here is what I have come up with. Bear in mind I find the Barber designs horrid.

    These are the obvious ones.
    Indian head cent.
    Buffalo Nickel
    Mercury Dime
    Standing Liberty Quarter
    Walking Liberty Half
    Peace Dollar

I have tossed around the idea of including the gold denominations in this.

    Indian Head Quarter Eagle
    Indian Head Half Eagle
    Indian Head Eagle
    St Gardens Double Eagle

Now here is one of my quandaries. The Cent thru dollar would be easy to find a nice holder for. But where do I find a holder that has enough protection for the gold coins? I want to display them as a set, but have enough protection for the expensive gold.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have any designs they might want to swap in or out? Add 3 cent piece? Add a three dollar piece?

You should get a Capitol plastics holder for the type set. Just get what ever they have for type set. I know it has all the types that you dont plan to collect, but hey why not. If theres a type that not dont like or doesnt interest you, just get a cheap example to fill the hole. Then the types that are your favorites, get nice examples of those. But I dont think theres a capitol plastic holder that has spots for gold coins in a type set. I know they have type sets of US gold coins, but I dont think you will find a set that has spots for them all. Maybe the Dansco Album for type sets does, but Im not sure on that.

    Have you considered including the:
    -- Liberty V nickel
    -- Barber dime
    -- Barber quarter
    -- Barber Half
    -- Morgan dollar

From the sound of it, DJP7's suggestion of Capital Plastic holders sound right.

I believe that you can also have Capital custom make you a holder as well, though I have no idea how much that costs.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

That would be my suggestion as well.

3cN, 3cS, and $3 are cool, but all three terminated in the 1800's.

That's not to say they would be out of place, but they aren't 1900's pieces.

Dansco #7070 is fairly comprehensive and has slots for every major coin type (except for the presidential dollars) from the 19th century to the present. It doesn't come with a page for gold coins, but you can buy that separately and add it (it has holes for the two most recent types of gold dollars, quarter eagles, half eagles, eagles, and double eagles).

Good suggestion for the Capital custom holders. They look like quality holders. The custom holder may be the way to go.

I don't want any Barber designs or Presidential designs. Just coins with solid designs. To me the Barber designs were horrid. Teddy Roosevelt thought so as well.

I might add a couple Early 20century comem coins if they have a nice allegorical design.

You can have them make one for you I've looked into it in the past. Problem is that it's WAY expensive. I'm sure it requires a good deal of retooling to make it work.

Well they do have a 4 piece gold type set. So I will go with one for the 1c thru $1 and one for the 4 gold pieces.

Now to hunt out the coins. I can hear the sound of PCGS/NGC holders cracking now.

Probably your best bet Alcochaser. They do have some really cool holders and why not have a few. Plus it's easier to put a new addition in if there are not 104 slots.
