I was rummaging through an old button box at a market this morning when i came across this. It only cost 50c so i bought it. It used to be a quarter anna minted in calcutta in 1835 for the East India Company
Even more idiotic, I saw a Salzburg 10 Dukaten gold coin 1624 with an "x" graffiti on coin. Some stupid nobleman figured it would be ideal to mark value "X" on coin. Most of these multiple dukaten coins had no numeric value on coin/ which was kinda silly too.
I also understand the frustration from damaged coins; I've got a ton of holed pieces or otherwise hurt. Interestingly, I think that the reverse scratch happened to the planchet before it was minted given that the arrows and border run over the scratch. Sweden 1819 1/4 Skilling
