Today I successfully had an auction pulled that mis-represented a coin. http://cgi.ebay.com/1760-Spanish-8-Reales-Silver-Dollar-Carolus-III_W0QQitemZ150266013909QQihZ005QQcategoryZ39481QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I see a lot of columnario fakes on ebay, in fact most of them are, and I've been making more of an effort to report them. This I had pulled by writing to the seller and directing him/her to a webpage where this particular forgery is discussed. The seller was courteous in their response and actually followed through within a day (normally it is less of a constructive exercise). Its a good day when your efforts result in something positive.
Well done if more peeps in the know would do as you did I wouldn't have to be so weary of E-BAY . I know there are good deals but because of all the junk , I never signed up there . rzage
Kudos to you AND the seller Brad. YOU pointed it out and the seller obviously cares about his reputation. Wouldn't it be nice if it ALWAYS worked that way?
The real problem is this, is that it's difficult to trust whom online. I used to warn other buyers about counterfeits when the feedback was available to everyone back in those days. There was one odd bidder that angrily replied back that he thought I was trying to make him back away from the auction so that I can have it at a steal. C'est la vie.
