Once again, the US Mint is Amazingly, Stunningly OBTUSE!!! :kewl:

On their Catalog Home page they proclaim...

The United States Mint is discontinuing online and phone sales of numismatic products containing the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial One Cent Coins at 5:00 pm (ET) on June 15, 2010.

It is also discontinuing all sales of the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Official First Day Coin Covers at 5:00 pm (ET) on June 30, 2010.

What the heck is THAT supposed to mean?!

The second paragraph is pretty straight forward...but the first one??? If they're not selling by phone or internet, how else are they selling? ...by mail order? How about Carrier Pidgeon? ...can I still get my order in by Carrier Pidgeon? What about Ox Cart...no mention of Ox Cart! :goof:

Are we just supposed to guess how else the Mint sells their products if not by phone or internet? What a bunch of Morons!!! :vanish:

Yes. Believe it or not, the Mint sends out marketing pamphlets for people to order through the mail, snail mail that is.

LOL...why couldn't they have just come out and said that?

    ...or something to that effect.

The U.S. Mint does have a mail order program to target people who may not have access to a computer or use of a credit card.

    Because it wasn't necessary.

Because the order form can't be printed from the website. It's mailed out, you fill it out and return it with payment.

That seems reasonable on the surface...but I doubt folks without a computer are reading the Mint's "Catalog Home" page.

But, who knows, maybe they're using a friends computer or one in a library. In any event, wouldn't it be a good idea for the Mint to let them know how to order by mail...not to mention anyone else that might want to place an order after June 15, 2010?

It just struck me as an odd way to do business...but they ARE the US Mint afterall...oblivious to all they survey!

The mail order program does send out a catalog. They tried using smoke signals, but then they started getting too many requests from Iran.

Don't forget the complaints from the Native American Nations for not being politcally correct

They were too busy running the casinos to even notice.

LMAO!! The US Mint has to be the only "for-profit" outfit that advertises how NOT to buy their products. :goofer:
