I have a few of these. They are also out of the same batch of 1964 cents I've been going through tonight. There's a little bit of randon texture that makes me think it might have been a piece of cloth. But I'm not sure.

Anyone have idea of what was struck through?

probably not cloth... more likely grease or oil with some small metal bits in it.

Ah.... the "small metal bits" in the grease makes sense! Thanks, Matt. I just couldn't wrap my head around what else it could have been.

That would be my guess too. Could it have also been struck through a thin detached lamination peel from a previous planchet?

I would just call it debris.
