Strike through on rim

I've got this nickel and a small segment of the rim appears to be missing, It doesn't look like any metal is displaced besides for possibly a small bump on the side of the rim. Does this point to PMD?

I guess the only thing is the shape of the portion of the rim that is missing doesn't quite resemble that of a post-mint damage or "hit-mark"
