Strange yellow ring in PCGS slab

    The Morgan dollar in the pics below is coming up for auction at Great Collections in a couple of weekends. The yellow ring in the middle which secures the coin from rattling or rotating is unusual. I’m assuming that it was originally colorless but reacted to light or maybe an unusual atmosphere and turned yellow. According to the PCGS website, a few of these slabs were made with green rings, but I’ve never seen one. Mike

    I like it! Looks like a color I know. "Grabber green". I'll have to check mine but i believe it's supposed to be clear, no? Shouldn't affect value.

    Phil Arnold photo'd it right? That yellow doesn't look right to me, never seen that before.

    I once read something about this. There is something in there which is clear but turns this color when exposed to sunlight if I remember correctly.
