Strange Rims on an IHC

    Alright error guys, what is going on with the rims of this IHC. It is raw and I bought it for the toning. Just noticed the rims.

    Comments about the overall appearance of the coin are also very welcome.

    Looks like the denticles are flattened and out of wack...

    I've seen that fairly frequently on seated half dimes, dime and occasionally nickel three cent pieces. I would imagine it happens on other series as well, but I really have no idea what causes it.

    It might be die deterioration or rust around the edge of the die. The denticles from 2 o'clock to about 6 look weak. If the die was eroded there it might have left a more shallow impression during the strike. Just a guess!!
