Just wondering what's wrong with this nickel. Someone dipped it in something, but I'm not sure. The reverse has a strange golden-like tone. The obverse is mostly normal, but the rim of the obverse is gold-like as well.
I propose that it set in the bottom of a wet stainless steel sink. The different metals caused the reaction we see on the reverse. I've actually had this happen before. I'm single and let my dishes pile up for a week, before washing.
It's been wet for a little bit of time. I put coins into my fish tank, and after a short while they kinda look like that
He wants the fish to develope that disease so they look like they are molting. That, or he is paying them to do tricks !
Boredome really. I have a 40gal planted aquarium with relatively few fish. Every once in a while i toss a few unnatural objects in to break up the natural scenery. I toss a few coins here and there, sometimes clad, sometimes silver and let them land whereever they land. Once i had some moss growing over a silver quarter. Then when i get bored i take them out. I've even done other stuff, like a broken arrow embedded into a peice of driftwood. sorry to get off topic
If it's a shiny nickel! We should stop now, before we get any more off topic, and attract a Mod's attention.:O
Not paying them, but i think they are stealing from me. I put a silver roosie in there once. Nothing special just a common '64. One day i noticed it was no longer there!! I searched the tank and couldn't fid it, but the plant growth is very dense. I'm not about to tear it apart for a dime, but i gotta remember to look for it when i tear this tank down whenever i get sick of it.
I'll bet the fishies stole his newest copy of the Red Book, too. Ok, I'm done being silly. Time for bed.
