Could someone please explain this mint mark ? It's from a coin I posted awhile back and got a better picture of it ! Looks like something stamped under it sideways! IMG_20180209_215229855_HDR.jpg

Sorry, Paddy, but I have to ask why images of both sides have anything to do with the mintmark.

Pickin I did see that one but what I'm looking at in my posted pick looks like a 9 or 6 behind the S sideways. Sorry I don't mean too dig up my old post that was already answered but the new pic was interesting too me !

Just machine doubling, Tell us how a 9 or a 6 in the area of the MM can happen at the mint? Those numbers are 3-5 times the size of a MM, How can that happen?

Granted, you may like to do that, but you're giving others the impression that it is required. So, they, in turn, tell newcomers that it is necessary without even knowing why.

To expand on what Pickin said, you would be wise to consider the basic idea behind Occam's Razor when approaching such things. In this case just ask yourself what is more likely: that a number/digit (that wasn't punched by hand into dies) just happens to be hiding under a mintmark that was, or if you're seeing or wanting to see something that simply isn't there.

You may also want to familiarize yourself with pareidolia, which is part of the human experience as is perfectly normal.
