I don't know anything about American Quarter Dollars, but this kinda confused me :eek:dd: ... i found this 1977 quarter dollar while i was looking through a variety of coins and the mint mark caught my attention It looks like a "D" as in Denver, but more like a blotch???

is it just a error, or just minted different?

(i cant take a pic right now but ill upload one later on today or tommorrow)

    camera's in use atm....:rolling:

Yeah, we need a picture. Look at the mint mark with 10x magnification. It could be an RPM. However, it is common to find "filled" mint marks on certain modern coin dates.

If it's in the location where a mint mark should be it is a D but probably just a filled in one. Could be a P that also is messed up a little. The P is the Philly one. I'd spell out Philly but not sure how to spell it. Have a lot of trouble spelling my own state, Illinois.

It look's like a D filled in, not so much a P lol. It is where the mint mark usually is so it is prob is a filled D,

i've noticed alot of quarters from the 70's and 80's with bad mintmarks. i guess they just kept using the dies, even though they were worn out.

that could be it then, re-using worn out dies.
