Hello, I'd like some input on a 1994 Quarter I found in my pocket change. It has a strange metal coating with ridges covering most of the reverse. I've never seen anything like this, if anyone knows what this is I'd appreciate some feedback. I'm including an image of it. Thank you.

Ok, thanks. Any idea how it got there and why the ridges? Was someone trying to create an error coin?

someone tried to solder the coin to something that had that pattern, like the jaw of a vise or pipe wrench....only the person who did it would know for sure..
