strange coinl

I found this coin in a piggy bank that my wife had as a child. It has probably been in there since the early 70's. Its a 1902 V nickel and was wondering if anyone has any information of what the numbers might mean or why they are on the coin.. Thanks mike

It is for something added after mint. Not sure the reason though

Probably only the person who stamped it knew. Might have been a bored kid with some number stamps.

 

Someone had a new set of numeral punches to play with.
