Strange 4th person on my trachy.

    There is a 4th person on this trachy from Michael VIII Palaeologus.

    Who is he or she, I suspect the virgin Mary myself?

K-retrograde K to left and right of Christ, bust facing / XM DECPOT O PALEOLOG across fields, Michael on left, kneeling before Christ seated, who holds scroll, and supported by St. Michael behind him.     The curved shape of these coins required they be struck twice with a small rock/shift of the die to between. If this was done poorly, we will see a doublestrike as on this coin. Unlike the gold, the AE alloy just did not strike well with curved dies unless both dies had exactly the same curvature (rarely the case). On the die, your two right side figures were the same.
