What is the best way to store silver (ASEs) and copper coins (MS RD Lincoln cents) to prevent toning and spotting? Two ideas I had were to use Coinworld slabs or to seal the coins into 2-1/5x2-1/2" Saflips using a heat sealer such as this one: http://www.amosadvantage.com/scotto...CNFS&mscssid=5L8H3B307WDX8MAQPJGNLGJ5QLSKD8JF
you can bury them inthe garden unprotected lol j/k i recommend the intercept shield boxes and temp controlled environment it will add a little cost but you reap the benefits
Several years ago I built a glove-box for Tig welding small titanium parts. I suppose the ultimate in coin preservation would be to put the coins into the box, purge it with argon, and then seal them into Saflips with a heat sealer.
If you put them in 2X2 mylar flips and then in storage binder pages 20 per page they will be quite safe. What really changes/tones coins is the extreme changes in environment. Moisture and heat are probably the worst factors outside of chemicals in the atmosphere that will cause harm to your stored coins. Just my experience and opinion. Allen
