does anyone have any differant ways they prefer to store their coins other than putting them in holders or sleaves I guess i am looking for unique homemade ideas ..i was thinking of making a box and lining it with velvet to keep differant coins in..Im not talking good coins ...im talking about the ones that you just dont want to let go that aren't in the best of shape but also dont want them to get any worse or i am i the only one who hoardes all coins that I find or buy..
I don't have any really good ideas for you, but I will say that yesterday I learned that storing them in the small plastic zip lock jewelry bags is not a good idea. Supposedly they contain PVC. That disappointed me, because that is so convenient!!
yes i do know that there are alot of things that you shouldn't store coins in like wood boxes and any plastic boxes or bags not designed specificly for coin storing and some cardbords..which would be a wood product ..all items should be acid free .. thats why i was hopeing some of the other long time collectors could shed some light for us newbies
Hi...The only way is to use inert plastic tubes then you can put them in a box. Mabey individual 2x2 coin flips too... Silver will tarnish and copper will get pocked and pitted. Sorry not much else you can do that is risk free. richcoin
I would say that would be fine, just make sure you keep the box in a cool dry place. Moisture is what you don't want. If the coins have any numismatic value I'd put them in 2x2's or some other protective holder.
