Storing banknotes -- air circulation and humidity

I store my banknotes in polyester 3-pocket pages. I store those pages in a polypropylene 3-ring binder. So no PVC anywhere!

Now the question is where to store those binders. I want to put them in a polypropylene box and keep some silica gel in there for humidity control (just in the summer). My concern: is it OK to have the banknotes boxed up like that (that is no air circulation)? If I don’t box them up then I can’t use silica gel to control humidity. Can I box them up but then just do an air-out every couple of weeks or so in Summer? I do plan to leave the box cover off in Spring, Winter and Fall as it is not too humid here (New England, USA).

Can you advise on best way to store banknotes.
