I am sure as collectors, everyone at some point can recall when a potential buy slipped away for various reasons. I recall a phone call I got about 4 years ago from a lady who dug up her dads coin collection in the yard of their family home. buried it many years ago but forgot exactly where because of memory problems. Her and a sister spent 4 days digging around a shed and came up with a old metal milk jug. The highlight of the hoard was a complete set of Newfoundland 2 dollar gold ,yes the 1880 was there(2500 minted) and several duplicates of other years . I did place a bid, lower than usual because every coin had glue residue on them. I Figure at some point in past tape was used to secure them in an album. They did get a second quote and he outbid me by 500.I regret that one that got away.

I was in Florida on vacation and we were driving from my grandfathers to Disney. About a 3 hour drive. We stopped at a restaurant that Guy Fieri reviewed on DDD. Anyway on right down the street was a magnificent coin shop. The most beautiful coin shop ive ever been to. I think half of it was an art exhibit. Never the less i looked around and saw this amazing half cent. It was of the bust variety, don't remember the year though. It was an a hundred dollars. It was a pretty good deal it had to be an AU coin, no problems. I didn't buy the coin even though i really wanted to, why you ask, because i brought exactly 100 dollars on vacation with me and i wanted to save money to buy souvenirs at Disney. I go to Disney at least once every two years. I should have just bought the coin. Also i didn't end up buying things at Disney. That coin "haunts" me to this day. I wish i got the guys business card or something, maybe i could have gotten it mail ordered.
And to this day, i still do not have a half cent... ridiculous.

I missed out recently on a 1938 PF66 cameo Walking Liberty Half Dollar. It is the last date I need to complete my cameo set (as close as is possible). There are only 17 designated coins among the three years that produced any cameo pieces at all. Given the small number that exist, I'll probably have to wait a few years before another example appears. I also missed out on a PCGS PF67 CAM Buffalo Nickel on a dealer's website about a year ago for no good reason. I just drug my feet too long and didn't jump when it first posted as I should have.
